A
life changing chapter in the history of luxury fibers has just
been written.
the elegant Vicuña is the pivotal character, and
Loro Piana is the proud author.
The nimble and graceful Vicuña with its remarkably silky
fleece
has made its home in the highest regions of South America ever
since
its origin dating back to the Inca Empire.
Its numbers had been dramatically reduced and this lithe little
animal
was moving closer and closer to extinction.
But due to the profound efforts of Loro Piana working in conjunction
with the Peruvian government, this rare species has been safeguarded
from decimation.
As result of an agreement reached between Loro Piana
and the President of Peru in July of 1994,
Loro Piana reintroduced to the market this most precious fiber.
